Cosmosonoridades — Cosmosonorities
Lecture Performance with Dr. Iván Periañez Bolaño and Miguel Ángel Vargas
Feburay 20, 2027, 7 p.m. | English/Spanish
Saal, Radialsystem, Berlin
Sound, music, and orality are not merely aesthetic forms of expression, but also vehicles for deeply rooted
cultural knowledge and collective identities. In their lecture-performance Cosmosonoridades — Cosmosonorities, Dr. Iván Periañez Bolaño and Miguel Ángel Vargas engage in a critical re-reading of the flamenco archive as a “speaking” counter-archive: fragmentary, embodied, and resistant to colonial orders. Voice, silence, and the body are understood as epistemic means through which knowledge beyond academic language becomes tangible. Live voice (cante), together with selected musical and archival audio materials, becomes a way of thinking rather than a moment of illustration. Listening is not the subject here, but the practice — an epistemologías del sentir (epistemology of feeling) in which memory, relation, and meaning are jointly produced.

When a lover says "I love you", is it the words or the speaker that matters? | Is decoloniality an academic drag?
Lecture Performance with meLê yamomo
February 21, 2027, 7 p.m. | English
Studio, Radialsystem, Berlin
In this lecture performance, mêLe yamomo combines moving image and live electronic music to explore the space
between theory and aesthetics, situatedness and migration, sounding and listening, performance and perception,
as well as the relation between the Universal Self and the Colonial Other. The work asks what becomes possible
when imagining beyond racial, national, cultural, gendered, and disciplinary boundaries, what forms of knowledge emerge through listening, and how sounding can shape a postmigrant society. Moving across continents, cultures, artistic practices, and disciplines, yamomo develops a resonant philosophy of sound and the sonus.
Tickets will be available soon.
Where Are Those Songs
Listening Session with Wairimũ Nduba
February 21, 2027, 8 p.m. | English
Kubus, Radialsystem, Berlin
Where Are Those Songs is an ongoing research project dedicated to thinking through, with, and alongside African
women’s sonic worlds. It is plurivocal: an exercise in citation, taking the form of vinyl sets, sound offerings, and a digital publication, seeking to activate and engage with music histories and the social, political, and economic contexts in which these sounds emerge. Where Are Those Songs beckons us to dream and imagine? It summons us to listen and peer between the lines, giving attention to what is shimmering unsaid, unseen, and unheard.
Tickets will be available soon.
