LES YEUX DE L'EAU - EXHIBITION @GAEC–Africa, Saint-Louis

As a partner in the development of the TALKING OBJECTS ARCHIVE, GAEC's project « Esprit des Objets - Objets des Esprit » deals with a collection of West African objects from the Musée Théodore Monod (Dakar) curated for the TALKING OBJECTS ARCHIVE. GAEC is establishing an exhibition « Les yeux de l'eau », which opens on 18 May in Saint Louis, followed by workshops on objects and their cosmologies on 21 and 22 May together with the TALKING OBJECTS team, neighbors, artists and thinkers.

« Les yeux de l'eau » est une exposition pluridisciplinaire qui fédère le travail de trois artistes visuels du paysage artistique sénégalais. Peinture, illustration documentaire et « mixtissage » mettent en lumière un océan de femmes africaines, leurs sillages, leurs marées et leurs devenirs dans les espaces du GAEC Africa. A travers cette exposition, Besse Sow, Daud et Kha Bamba nous rapprochent de leur imaginaire commun : l'héroïsme quotidien des femmes en Afrique de l'Ouest.

Les yeux de l'eau is a multidisciplinary exhibition that combines the artwork of three visual artists from the Senegalese artistic landscape. Painting, documentary illustration and “mixtissage” spotlight an ocean of African women, their wakes, their tides and their futures in the spaces of GAEC Africa. Through this exhibition, Besse Sow, Daud and Kha Bamba bring us closer to their common imaginary: the daily heroism of West African women.
